The Weather’s Heating Up- Grab an Ice Cream Cone [Cupcake?!]

Alright that title is obnoxiously long. But what I am about to share with you deserves- nay, demands– an outrageously long and ridiculous title. I’m too excited right now. I can’t take it. I can tell the suspense is killing you…. GAH!!!

Ice cream cone cupcakes. I don’t even know where to begin. You’re drooling staring at your computer screen. I know you are. Don’t lie. I am too.

Let me explain myself. Yesterday, I had a baking adventure with my best baking friend Sutton! Sutton is fabulous. We share two very important passions: shoes, and baking. Hence, we decided to have ourselves a night of baking! As we pondered what to bake, I thought of these little beauties from the super-duper-amazing Confessions of a Cookbook Queen. As soon as we took a look, we were sold! So we started our adventure of the Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes.

These were not as hard as one would imagine. Step one: make the toppers.

This part was shockingly easy! Melt the chocolate of your choice (we chose semi-sweet) and then make 24 little puddles on a sheet covered with wax paper. Then, dip donut holes in the chocolate and sit them in each puddle. Add the jimmies of your choice, and then top with a sugar cone. Tada- your toppers are ready to set in the fridge!

Next, make whatever icing you choose. We chose to use my super-amazing (I’m so modest :)) buttercream frosting recipe I shared in the Flower Power post! It was so perfect.

They look so dainty and sweet! Yeah, not for long….

Alright, a little chocolate drizzle and we’re on our way…

Oh yeah. There we go. Noooooow we’re cookin’! Stop trying to eat your screen. I know, it’s hard.

Disregard that one with the chocolate smudge. It’s bugging me. But hey, our imperfections are what make us perfect right? I love you little imperfect, delicious cone cupcake.

I just can’t get over how cute they are. My friends and brother devoured them. My brother ate 3. I think that may be hazardous to your health…These would be so cute for a 4th of July BBQ- summery and delicious!
